Seascape Painter – Living in far west Cornwall I feel as though I’m perched on the edge of the world. I am in love with the coastal landscape and never travel anywhere without my notepad, sketch book and camera. I might be walking, swimming or right out at sea, fishing, which can lead to an entirely different perspective. I work very quickly, seizing the moment so the resultant sketches are an immediate response to my surroundings.
Back in the studio I translate my ideas onto canvas and often work on more than one piece. The layering of oils is a long process and I begin to develop a relationship with the work. It can be many months before I am satisfied with my endeavors.
